And this is the greatest mystery of LUIS: since 2006, he divulged through Robert my brother, to the media interview (Channel 2, Abs-Cbn crew), that Judge Floro will not get any job, work or earn any money, but beg, beg and beg. Since Floro was ousted of his own house by his second brother Joselito on February 9, 1989, and until this very day, he only rents a house, has no car and no means of visible support. He had approached not only his brothers but even their clients and around 10 Justices and 20 government officers, including his classmates to help him move on since 1999, saying he would be happy to be a mere clerk.

On March 24, 2008, the Aquino family announced that the former President had been diagnosed with colon cancer. While she had initially been informed by her doctors that she had only three months to live, Aquino pursued chemotherapy. The treatment caused both heavy hair loss, loss of appetite and immunological problems.

In public remarks made on May 13, 2008, she announced that blood tests indicated that she was responding positively to the medical treatment. By July 2009, Aquino was reported to be in a very serious condition and confined to Makati Medical Center due to loss of appetite and chronic baldness. It was announced that Aquino and her family had decided to cease chemotherapy and other medical interventions. Aquino died of cardio-respiratory arrest after complications of colon cancer at the age of 76 on August 1, 2009, 3:18 a.m., at the Makati Medical Center.

It is weird for respondent Judge to state in one of his pleadings in this case that President Estrada would not finish his term as President. It is unusual and queer of him to state in his calling card that he is a graduate of Ateneo de Manila, second honors, bar topnotcher with a grade of 87.55%.

So is it strange of him to make use of his alleged psychic powers in writing decisions in the cases assigned to his court. It is improper and grandiose of him to express superiority over other judges in the course of hearings he is conducting and for him to say that he is very successful over many other applicants for the position he has been appointed.

Psychosis - Psychiatric Emergencies in Bipolar and Related Disorders

It is abnormal for a Judge to distribute self-serving propaganda. One who distributes such self-serving propaganda is odd, queer, amusing, irresponsible and abnormal. A judge suffering from delusion or hallucination is unfit to be one. So is he who gets into a trance while presiding at the hearing of a case in court.

One need not be a doctor of medicine, a psychiatrist and a psychologist to determine and conclude that a person in such circumstances is mentally unfit or insane and should not be allowed to continue discharging the duties and functions of a judge. The life, liberty and property of the litigants in the court presided by such judge are in his hands. Hence, it is imperative that he is free from doubt as to his mental capacity and condition to continue discharging the functions of his office.

RECOMMENDATION

WHEREFORE, it is respectfully recommended that by reason of insanity which renders him incapable and unfit to perform the duties and functions of Judge of the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Malabon, Metro Manila, Branch 73, respondent Florentino V. Floro, Jr. be REMOVED and DISMISSED from such office. We are in agreement with the OCA that Judge Floro cannot remain as RTC Judge because of the findings of mental impairment that renders him unfit to perform the functions of his office.

We hasten to add, however, that neither the OCA nor this Court is qualified to conclude that Judge Floro is “insane” as, in fact, the psychologists and psychiatrists on his case have never said so. When Justice Ramirez recommended that Judge Floro be dismissed from the service due to “insanity,” he was apparently using the term in its loose sense. Insanity is a general layman’s term, a catch–all word referring to various mental disorders. Psychosis is perhaps the appropriate medical term as this is the one used by Drs. Vista and Villegas of the Supreme Court Clinic. It is of note that the 1995, 1998 and 2000 psychological evaluations all reported signs and symptoms of psychosis.

Rod Nazario, the former business manager of Manny Pacquiao, and widely recognized as the man who gave the current pound-for-pound king his break on US soil, passed away at the age of 74 on Thursday morning at the Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Pinas, Metro Manila. Nazario, who became involved in the fight game during the time of Tanny Campo in the 1950s, had been diagnosed with lung cancer last year. Nazario even celebrated his birthday last Sept. 12 and over the weekend, Pacquiao dropped by the hospital and wished him well. Pacquiao was under the tutelage of Nazario from 1995 until 2005 and it was in June 2001 when Pacquiao made his American debut after Nazario negotiated that he be given the chance to fight underneath an Oscar De La Hoya headliner at the MGM Grand. Nazario was at ringside when Pacquiao knocked out Ricky Hatton last May in Las Vegas. Fightnews would like to express its condolences to the family of Nazario.

The period of three years seems to us the most equitable under the circumstances. As discussed, if we were to give him more than three years of back salaries, etc., then it would seem that we are rewarding him for his role in delaying the resolution of these cases (as well as the seven cases he filed which were only dismissed on 14 February 2006 at his own bidding). On the other hand, if we were to peg the period at less than three years then the same would only be a pittance compared to the seven years suspension he had to live through with Damocles sword hanging over his head and with his hands bound as he could not practice his profession.xxx"

In fairness to Rod Nazario, and to all others who, like myself, suffered because of him and his wife Justice Minita Nazario, I am quoting these:

The case of Manny Pacquiao, whom he goaded to superstardom, was another one for the books. He claimed everything happened purely by chance.

Here was how Rod Nazario, who passed away at 74 on Thursday, traced Pacquiao’s first big leap towards all-time greatness:

Espinosa left the country in early 1998 after he was not paid for his successful world title defense against Carlos Rios last December 1997 in Koronadal, South Cotabato. Espinosa plans to pursue his case currently pending at the sala of Judge Rosario Cruz of the Manila Regional Trial court Branch 173 involving his unpaid fight purse of $150,000. Respodents of the case are fight promoter Rod Nazario, matchmaker Lito Mondejar and former South Cotabato governor Hilario de Pedro.

The agreement states that as promoter, Nazario "guarantees the purse of $150,000 and training expenses of $10,000 for Luisito Espinosa".

It was signed by Nazario, Espinosa’s namanger Joe Koizumi and a certain Jose Pring, Jr. representing De Pedro. Part of the documents presented by Espinosa’s lawyer Dennis Manzanal was a Letter of Guarantee signed by De Pedro and Nazario endorsed by then Games and Amusement Board Chairman Dominador Cepeda. When the case was actively heard sometime in 2005, Nazario reiterated his argument that he merely accommodated Koizumi and De Pedro as both of them had no domestic license to promote the fight.

Espinosa, 41, won the World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight crown in October 1989 by stopping legendary local legend Khaokor Galaxy in a single round in Thailand then annexed the World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight championship via 12-round decision win over Mexican Manuel Medina December of 1995.

Espinosa defended the WBC belt seven times in a span of nearly four years before losing the belt via controversial 12-round decision to another Mexican Cesar Soto in May 1999 in El Paso, Texas. Now working as a stockman in Cosco, the green card-holder Espinosa ended his illustrious career with a record of 47-13 with 26 knockouts.

Justice Minita Nazario’s husband Rod Nazario steered the boxing career of icon Manny Pacquiao from rags to riches, “from his “Blow by Blow” days to winning the Philippine flyweight championship, grabbing the OPBF flyweight title and all the way to winning the WBC flyweight championship”.

The irony of it all is that while the IBF title became Pacquiao’s first step to the limelight of big time boxing, it has also turned out to become the beginning of the end of the Nazario-Pacquiao partnership, with the loss to Morales as a reflection of the sad ending.

Pacquiao and Murad entered into an out-of-court settlement that effectively ended the litigation of the $33-million suit which Pacman filed against Nazario, his estranged promoter (April 28, 2005).

It was divulged that Rod Nazario may have conspired with Muhammad in denying Pacquiao the rightful money that the Pacman should’ve received from all his fights in the U.S. Even if Pacquiao didn’t file any case against Nazario, the former stated in the TV interview that he’s doing this out of “utang na loob.”

A federal judge in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday threw out a complaint by a lawyer alleging a constitutional right to wear jeans and a baseball hat in a courtroom.

Todd Bank, whose office is in Kew Gardens, New York, showed up in a Queens housing court in March 2008 while wearing a button-down shirt, blue jeans, socks, shoes and a baseball hat that read "Operation Desert Storm."

Judge Anne Katz told Bank he was dressed inappropriately, and court clerk Jude Albano told him to take the hat off. Bank sued both, saying his right to free speech and his liberty to dress as he wishes, which he said are guaranteed under the First and Fourteenth Amendments, allowed him to wear the clothing. Not so, said U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis.

A courtroom is a "staid environment" where a judge may set reasonable limits on litigants' behavior to enforce "commonly shared mores of courtroom civility," he wrote. And this law is better than dismissing elf judges for unseen acts and visible beliefs.

Poland okays forcible castration for pedophiles

SC Justice Leonardo Quisumbing, husband of Commission on Human Rights Chair Purificacion Valera, asked me to read 2 pages of a book (written by an ex-seminarian), about Buddha, Gautam on his meditation - whether he saw the light. The book was written by an ex-seminarian. I discerned and predicted that Buddha never saw the light since only St. Paul, as Saul of Tarsus, first saw it, and he was blinded and converted. Gentiles or even atheists can see the light provided they follow their conscience and lead honest, fair, just and moral lives. While I said that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church, today, we had seen many SINS in our church which turned away many believers or skeptics.

There is really nothing we can do to change our destiny, even if we can choose our path. I say this, since, I myself, who excelled in almost all ... FAILed as the apostles and martyrs had. Remember the book The prosperous wicked and the persecuted saints. If you choose the easy path, then you fail. Here, 99% of our jurists and court personnel lead dishonest lives and corruption reigns in their hearts. They are savant-idiots, but they FAIL. Why?

They failed to choose the narrow and painful path: they steal, they extort and they never help the poorest of the poor. I had chosen to endure my sufferings instead of forthwith getting the fabulous treasure that LUIS had offered or told me to dig last month. If I am plenty or if I am so rich as my 2 brothers, how can I levitate, how can I travel to his Kingdom of Peace? Life is dire suffering, as Our Lady of Lourdes said to St. Bernadette: I do not promise material happiness to you in this life. Passion and reason are often not worth in life. There is nothingness in being or existence, there is hole, there are negatives, sickness, accidents and dire pains. 1 in 5 adult Filipinos have ‘psychiatric disorders’

Up to one in five adult Filipinos have “psychiatric disorders" and more people are developing mental disorders due to “extreme life experiences", doctors said Thursday. Dr Lourdes Ladrido-Ignacio, a former president of the Philippine Psychiatric Association, said between 17 to 20 percent of the country’s adult population have psychiatric disorders.

About 10 to 15 percent of children aged 5 to 15 are believed to have mental problems. Ladrido-Ignacio also noted that in remote barrios without doctors, 50 percent of adults who consult at rural health centers were diagnosed to have some form of psychological illness.

The National Statistics Office’s 2000 disability ranked mental illness as the third most common form of morbidity, or type of disease, after visual and hearing impairments among Filipinos. The same survey showed that 88 Filipinos out of every 100,000 population with mental problems.

In 2004, a DOH-commissioned Social Weather Stations survey found that 0.7 percent of total Filipino households have a family member who has a psychological disorder such as depression, schizophrenia, epilepsy, and substance abuse. The World Health Organization defines mental health as a state of well-being that allows a person to realize his or her own abilities to cope with the normal stresses of life. The Department of Health, meanwhile, said “extreme life experiences" such as natural disasters, armed conflict, and the increasing number of family members going abroad to work have contributed to more Filipinos developing mental disorders.

“We’ve tried to identify the components that could influence the mental status of a person and we found that life experiences such as disasters and armed conflict (affect one’s state of mind)," said Dr Yolanda Oliveros, director of the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Oliveros said addressing mental illness as a public health concern remains as a challenge since there are only 400 licensed psychiatrists practicing in the country.“That’s why we are telling them to decentralize, to train general practitioners and healthcare providers since these people are (in the frontline) of primary care," she said. The doctors spoke during Thursday’s convention of the Philippine Psychiatric Association, Inc. (PPA) at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

House set to address mental health care

House Speaker Prospero Nograles and Rep. Arthur Pingoy, chairman of the House Committee on Health, jointly filed House Bill 6679 seeking the establishment of “The Philippine Council for Mental Health” with the necessary funding provisions.

According to a World Health Organization study, one out of five adult patients and one out of 10 children ages 5 to 15 have diagnosable psychiatric disorders.

A population survey conducted in the Western Visayas region in 1994 showed that 32 percent of adult Filipinos and 22 percent of children were diagnosed to have psychiatric syndromes. This translates to one out of three Filipino adult and one out of five children have a psychiatric disorder. Another study conducted in three primary health centers in Manila showed that one out of 5 adults and one out of 10 children ages 5 to 15 consulting these centers have mental disorders.

Moreover, a similar study in three municipalities in Bulacan showed that 34 percent have psychological symptoms. The same study also showed the high prevalence of psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, alcoholism and chronic psychosis. “However, only 5 percent of these consultees in general health clinics were recognized by the physicians, midwives and barangay health workers in these areas. This low recognition of said illnesses only showed the incapacity to recognize the need to treat these disorders as part of their daily health care activities,” the authors noted.

And I am sure, most of you do not have a so fertile imagination, as Filipinos have which resulted in the overcrowding of our mental hospital in Mandaluyong Manila.

Crab mentality describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you." The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs in which one tries to escape over the side, but is relentlessly pulled down by the others in the pot.

The death toll from typhoon "Pepeng" (Parma) has surpassed that of tropical storm "Ondoy" (Ketsana), according to figures from the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) Friday. In its 6 a.m. report, the NDCC said Pepeng’s death toll was at 419, mostly buried by landslides in Baguio City and the provinces of Benguet and Mt. Province. Ondoy’s death toll has been placed at 341, mostly from floods. NDCC said Pepeng killed at least 333 in Cordillera region - 288 in Benguet alone - and 71 in Ilocos, 10 in Central Luzon, and four in Bicol.

Most of the deaths in Cordillera were due to landslides while the rest in other regions were due to drowning, it added. At least 51 were still missing while 184 were reported injured. Pepeng, which made landfall thrice in northern Luzon starting Oct. 3, affected at least 662,274 families or 3,106,978 people in 4,585villages in 361 towns and 35 cities and 27 provinces.

Of these, 15,629 families or 74,868 people are still staying in 168 evacuation centers. Some 4,040 houses were destroyed while 34,843 were damaged. Damage to property was estimated at P10.437 billion, including P3.402 billion in infrastructure and P7.032 billion in agriculture.

The 2009 L'Aquila earthquake was an earthquake that occurred in the region of Abruzzo, in central Italy. The main shock occurred at 3:32 local time (1:32 UTC) on 6 April 2009, and was rated 5.8 on the Richter scale and 6.3 on the moment magnitude scale; its epicentre was near L'Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo, which together with surrounding villages suffered most damage. The 2009 Samoa earthquake was an 8.0 Mw submarine earthquake that took place in the Samoan Islands region at 06:48:11 local time on September 29, 2009 (17:48:11 UTC, September 29). It is the largest earthquake so far in 2009. A tsunami was generated which caused substantial damage and loss of life in Samoa, American Samoa, and Tonga. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center recorded a 3-inch (76 mm) rise in sea levels near the epicenter. The quake occurred on the outer rise of the Kermadec-Tonga Subduction Zone. This is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plates in the earth's lithosphere meet and earthquakes and volcanic activity are common. The earthquake occurred on the same day as the 2009 Sumatra earthquakes, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks in which at least 1,000 people died.

The September 2009 Sumatra earthquake occurred just off the southern coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The major shock hit at 17:16:10 local time on September 30, 2009 (10:16:10 UTC) and had a moment magnitude of 7.6. The epicenter was 45 kilometres (28 mi) west-northwest of Padang, Sumatra, and 220 kilometres (140 mi) southwest of Pekanbaru, Sumatra. Early death-toll estimates extended beyond 1300. Government reports have to date confirmed 1,115 dead, 1,214 severely injured and 1,688 slightly injured. The most deaths occurred in the areas of Padang Pariaman (675), Padang (313), Agam (80) and Pariaman (37). The 2009 West Java earthquake was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred on September 2, 2009 at 14:55 local time in West Java, Indonesia.

The 2009 Vanuatu earthquakes were a series of large submarine earthquakes that took place to the west of the Torres Islands of Vanuatu on October 7, 2009 UTC. A 7.6 Mw earthquake, at 22:03 UTC, was followed by a 7.8 Mw event 15 minutes later at 22:18 UTC, and a 7.3 Mw event at 23:13 UTC.

The similar size and close timing of the first two events has been dubbed as an earthquake doublet. Several moderate to major earthquakes affected the vicinity of Vanuatu and also of Santa Cruz Islands between October 7 and 8 2009. The first earthquake struck at 2203 UTC on October 7 2009 and measured 7.6 Mw.

A tsunami warning was issued for 11 countries throughout the region although this was cancelled within two hours after only a minor tsunami formed. The Vanuatu earthquakes occurred on (or near) the boundary of the Australia Plate and the Pacific Plate, and occurred mostly at a depth of 35 kilometers (22 miles).

This boundary region is among the most seismically active areas in the world.

"MANILA, Philippines--The Malabon-Navotas Regional Trial Court (RTC) is scheduled to move out of its old location in perennially-flooded Barangay Catmon, Malabon, to a new drier location also in the city by next week. The RTC’s voluminous court records as well as its legal reference books were damaged after being submerged in about 7-10 feet of floodwaters unleashed by Tropical Storm “Ondoy.” The Supreme Court will be transferring its court branches in Malabon-Navotas to a rented property inside Golden Vale Subdivision in Barangay Tenejeros.

Malabon-Navotas City Prosecutor Jorge Catalan Jr. told Inquirer that the court offices are due to transfer on Jan. 15. “Since the new location will be on higher grounds, the Malabon-Navotas courts will no longer be in a flooded area,” he added. The Malabon-Navotas RTC-—used to the recurrent floods in low-lying Malabon—-had long raised shelves and filing cabinets and placed them on top of benches to keep court records safe and dry.

But the floods spawned by Ondoy in September soaked almost all the court papers. Branch 170 of the Malabon-RTC, for example, only managed to save a few court documents before the storm hit Metro Manila, like the documents on the controversial Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez murder case. In fact, the parties in the Barrameda-Jimenez case had already earlier petitioned the Supreme Court for a change of the trial venue, citing the difficulties of hearing the case in the dilapidated and flooded courts of the Malabon-Navotas RTC. The request is still pending, but there may no longer be a need to seek a a new venue because of the scheduled transfer of the RTC offices.

2008 Sichuan earthquake
The 2008 Sichuan earthquake or the Great Sichuan Earthquake was a deadly earthquake that measured at 8.0 Ms and 7.9 Mw occurred at 14:28:01.42 CST (06:28:01.42 UTC) on May 12, 2008 in Sichuan province of China and killed at least 68,000 people.

It is also known as the Wenchuan earthquake (Chinese: 汶川大地震; pinyin: Wènchuān dà dìzhèn), after the location of the earthquake's epicenter, Wenchuan County in Sichuan province. The epicenter was 80 kilometres (50 mi) west-northwest of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, with a depth of 19 kilometres (12 mi). The resulting tsunami itself is given various names, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Asian Tsunami, Indonesian Tsunami, and Boxing Day Tsunami.

The earthquake was caused by subduction and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing nearly 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 meters (100 feet) high. It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand were the hardest hit.

1976 Tangshan earthquake
The Tangshan Earthquake also known as the Great Tangshan Earthquake, was a natural disaster that occurred on July 28, 1976. It is believed to be the largest earthquake of the 20th century by death toll. The epicenter of the earthquake was near Tangshan in Hebei, People's Republic of China, an industrial city with approximately one million inhabitants. The number of deaths initially reported by the Chinese government was 655,000, but this number has since been stated to be around 240,000 to 255,000. A further 164,000 people were recorded as being severely injured.The earthquake came in between a series of political events involving the Communist Party of China. It shook China both literally and figuratively in 1976, which was later labeled a "Year of curse".

1556 Shaanxi earthquake
The 1556 Shaanxi earthquake (Chinese: 华县大地震; pinyin: Huà xiàn dà dìzhèn) or Jiajing earthquake (Chinese: 嘉靖大地震; pinyin: jiājìng dà dìzhèn) is the deadliest earthquake on record, killing approximately 830,000 people. It occurred on the morning of 23 January 1556 in Shaanxi, during the Ming Dynasty. More than 97 counties in the provinces of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Gansu, Hebei, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu and Anhui were affected. An 840-kilometre (520 mi)-wide area was destroyed, and in some counties 60% of the population was killed.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake centred approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, which struck at 16:53:09 local time (21:53:09 UTC) on Tuesday, 12 January 2010. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometres (8.1 mi). The United States Geological Survey recorded a series of aftershocks, fourteen of them between magnitudes 5.0 and 5.9. The International Red Cross estimates that there have been as many as three million people affected by the quake, and an estimated 45,000–50,000 deaths.

Most of Port-au-Prince's major landmarks were significantly damaged or destroyed in the earthquake, including the Presidential Palace (though the President survived), the National Assembly building, the Port-au-Prince Cathedral, and the main jail. All hospitals were destroyed or so badly damaged that they have been abandoned. The United Nations reported that headquarters of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), located in the capital, collapsed and that a large number of UN personnel were unaccounted for. The Mission's Chief, Hédi Annabi, was confirmed dead on 13 January by President René Préval.

MANILA, Philippines—The first political mass murder of the election season was described as so gruesome and unparalleled in recent years that an aide of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said it required nothing less than the declaration of a state of emergency to avoid more bloodletting. At least 52 people, including 18 women, lay dead—some of them beheaded and others raped and mutilated, authorities said. A search was mounted for several dozen others reportedly taken hostage and feared killed in Maguindanao province. Among those feared dead were 13 media people, the largest group of journalists ever killed in a single incident.

Military and police investigators found a backhoe owned by the Maguindanao provincial government in the killing field planted to corn and coconut, raising the possibility that some of those slaughtered may have been hastily buried in a mass grave. Buluan Vice Mayor Ishmael “Toto” Mangudadatu said among those killed were his two sisters—Eden, the mayor of Mangudadato town, and Farina—along with his 36-year-old wife Genalyn Tiamzon and legal counsels Cynthia Oquendo and Connie Brizuela. The victims were in the group that included some 20 other women supporters, accompanied by over 30 journalists, whom Vice Mayor Mangudadatu had tasked to file his certificate of candidacy for him for governor of Maguindanao in the provincial office of the Commission on Elections in Shariff Aguak town when the massacre happened on Monday.

The two female lawyers, who were reportedly slain in the massacre in Maguindanao on Monday, were among those who had kept hopes for peace and respect for human rights alive in Mindanao. Concepcion “Connie” Brizuela, 56, and Cynthia Oquendo, 35, were with members of the Mangudadatu clan and at least a dozen media practitioners who were waylaid and murdered in Maguindanao by a group of armed men now being linked to the Mangudadatus’ political rivals.

The regional police commander in Maguindanao Province, Josefino Cataluna, said the bodies were dug out from a shallow pit near a grassy hilltop where police and troops earlier found 46 other corpses after Monday’s attack, The Associated Press reported. He said the 52 victims included the family of a gubernatorial candidate and 18 Filipino journalists who accompanied his relatives in filing his election papers. Six bodies have been unearthed from the "killing fields" in Ampatuan, Maguindanao province on Wednesday, bringing the death toll of the bloodiest election-related incident to 52.

An initial list of media people included in the convoy, as gathered by ABS-CBN, showed 4 members of a UNTV network crew. They were identified as Joy Duhay, Victor Nuñez, Macmac Ariola and Jimmy Cabillo. The National Union of Journalists in the Philippines said a total of 18 journalists have been recovered from the burial site as of Monday night. The NUJP said they expect the number to increase to 20. ANC's executive producer Patricia Evangelista, who was at the retrieval site, reported that authorities were expecting the death toll to increase to more than 60. Of the six recovered at noon Wednesday, those who were identified were Henry Araneta of Radio DZRH and Cecille Lechonsito, a passenger of the red Toyota Vios which the suspects thought was part of the convoy led by Genalyn Mangudadatu, wife of Buluan town Vice Mayor Ismael "Toto" Mangudadatu.

Candidates in the election condemned the massacre, as did the European Union.

Retired Makati RTC judge, wife killed in road accident RETIRED judge of the Makati City regional trial court and his wife were killed on their way to "simbang gabi" when a passenger bus clipped their vehicle along Commonwealth avenue in Quezon City at half past four Monday morning. A report from the Quezon City Police District said Judge Reynaldo Laigo and his wife Lilia were coming out of the Don Jose Subdivision in their mini Pajero when a speeding Corimba Express bus driven by Generoso Magante Jr. hit the left portion of their vehicle. The Laigos were reportedly pinned inside their vehicle and it took rescue teams more than 20 minutes to free them and take them to the hospital. Both were declared dead on arrival at the hospital, Judge Laigo at the Fairview General Hospital and his wife at the East Avenue Medical Center. Before his retirement last July, the soft-spoken Laigo decided controversial cases during his four years as presiding judge of Branch 56 of the Makati regional trial court.

The Manila hostage crisis occurred when a dismissed Philippine National Police officer took over a tour bus in Rizal Park, Manila, Philippines on August 23, 2010. Disgruntled former senior inspector Rolando Mendoza, from the Manila Police District (MPD) hijacked a tour bus carrying 25 people (20 tourists and also a tour guide, all from Hong Kong, and four Filipinos) in an attempt to get his job back. He said that he was summarily dismissed without the opportunity to properly defend himself, and that all he wanted was a fair hearing.

After about ten hours into the siege, the Filipino bus driver was able to get out of the bus by falling through the driver's bus window and was shown on television saying "patay na lahat (everyone is dead)" before being whisked away by police. At the end, eight of the hostages and Mendoza were dead and nine other people were injured. The Hong Kong Government soon after issued a top-level "black" travel alert for the Philippines. WE are not alone and alien life forms may have more in common with life on Earth than we had thought, according to a NASA scientist. The out-of-this-world research by Dr Richard B. Hoover, an astrobiologist with NASA's Marshall Space Flight Centre, was published in the March edition of the Journal of Cosmology. In the report, Dr Hoover describes the latest findings in his study of an extremely rare class of meteorites, called CI1 carbonaceous chondrites - only nine such meteorites were known to exist on Earth.

The scientist was convinced that his findings revealed fossil evidence of bacterial life within such meteorites and by extension, suggests we are not alone in the universe. "I interpret it as indicating that life is more broadly distributed than restricted strictly to the planet Earth," Dr Hoover said.

The January 31 – February 2, 2011 North American winter storm, also called the 2011 Groundhog Day Blizzard, was a powerful and historic winter storm, situated around the US and Canadian holiday Groundhog Day. In the initial stages of the storm, some meteorologists predicted that the system would affect over 100 million people in the United States. The storm brought cold air, heavy snowfall, blowing snow, and mixed precipitation on a path from New Mexico and northern Texas to New England and Eastern Canada. The Chicago area saw between 1 and 2 feet of snow and blizzard conditions, with winds of over 60 mph. Numerous power outages, flight cancellations, airport closures, road closures, rail and bus cancellations, mail stoppages, and school, government, and business closures took place ahead of and after the storm; many of these disruptions lasted several days.

Several tornado touchdowns were reported in Texas and a tornado watch was issued for parts of Alabama, ahead of the cold front in the warm sector of the storm. In addition, thundersnow was recorded at some locations, increasing the overall snowfall rate. At least 24 deaths were reported to be related to the storm, many of them in shoveling or auto-related incidents. The total damages from the ice storm alone may exceed $1 billion USD.
January 2011 Rio de Janeiro floods and mudslides A series of floods and mudslides took place in January 2011 in several towns of the Mountainous Region (Região Serrana), in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Casualties occurred in the cities of Nova Friburgo, Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Sumidouro and São José do Vale do Rio Preto. The floods caused at least 903 deaths, including 424 in Nova Friburgo and 378 in Teresópolis. While local media claims that the combination of floods, mudslides and landslides in Rio de Janeiro became the worst weather-related natural disaster in Brazilian history, some contend that a similar weather-related tragedy that took place in the same state in 1967 was much deadlier, and that an estimated 1,700 people lost their lives on the occasion.

The 2011 Yunnan earthquake was a 5.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred on 10 March 2011, at 12:58 CST with its epicenter in Yingjiang County, Yunnan, People's Republic of China, near the Burmese border. At least 25 people died and 250 were injured with 134 in serious condition. China's Xinhua reports that up to seven aftershocks, measuring up to a magnitude of 4.7, followed the initial quake, which caused a total of 127,000 people to be evacuated to nearby shelters. It joined over 1,000 other minor tremors that affected the region in the two preceding months. The earthquake occurred one day before a much larger earthquake struck Japan that also formed a tsunami.

The state news agency reports that an estimate of 1,200 houses and apartments collapsed and that around 17,500 were severely damaged. The surrounding area also suffered through power outages caused by the quake and several aftershocks. It is not known if there were any casualties or damage in Burma. Although there was a power outage telecommunications continued to work after the earthquake. Close to 127,100 people were evacuated from Yingjiang County following the quake, which affected a total of 344,600 people. China Central Television showed damaged buildings with debris around as police officers directed traffic on a chaotic street.A local reported the extent of the damage to the BBC, saying, "[half] of a supermarket building had collapsed. The earthquake created tsunami waves of up to 10 meters (33 ft) that struck Japan, with smaller waves in many other countries. Osaka, Japan (大阪, Ōsaka?) 1) Edison Flameniana Sr., a columnist of Mindanao Inquirer, who was shot dead on December 10, 2010 in Tabudok, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

On July 9, 2011, 5) Miguel Belen, 48, a field reporter of radio dwEb-FM in Nabua, Camarines Sur, was shot and wounded by motorcycle-riding men in an ambush along Zone 3, Barangay San Jose Pagaraon, Nabua at 8:30 p.m. . Belen died on July 31, after weeks of fighting for his life in a hospital in Iriga City.

The Philippines placed third in the 2010 Impunity Index by the Committee to Protect Journalists, which highlights countries where journalists are killed regularly and governments fail to solve the crimes. The killing of 30 journalists—among 57 people massacred in Maguindanao province in November 2009—catapulted the Philippines from sixth to third in the Impunity Index. The killings were the deadliest single-day attack anywhere in the world on journalists. The journalists killed in Maguindanao were among the over 130 Filipinos enshrined in the Journalists Memorial at the Newseum in Washington, dubbed by media practitioners as the “shrine of news.”

What is Philippine Crab Mentality and Stalking?

Crab mentality describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you." The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs in which one tries to escape over the side, but is relentlessly pulled down by the others in the pot.

This term is broadly associated with short-sighted, non-constructive thinking rather than a unified, long-term, constructive mentality. I'm not sure that it is direly important. In fact I think it is pretty much irrelevant. I was passing through Mumbai, using an unfamiliar computer and I wasn't logged in. I soon added my username to the unsigned comments so that no one would be misled.
